Jane Fonda was dropping inspiration and truth on this week’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (told you I was basic), where she was promoting her new book, What Can I Do? My Path from Climate Despair to Action.
From complimenting Kim Kardashian’s derrière as “the most beautiful behind I have ever seen” to climate change, she had a lot to say. Listen up!
Q: What’s one small change we can make to our daily routines that can make a positive impact on the environment? A: VOTE!
Q: How to sustainably shop? A: Go to thrift and vintage stores
JANE TRUTH BOMB: We buy too much. We can’t solve our problems by shopping. We can’t develop an identity through shopping.
Q: How do you navigate a conversation with someone that doesn’t believe climate change is real? A. Listening is important. Find out why they think it’s not real and what they’re interested in. Birds? Tell them thousands of birds migrating are falling out of the sky dead 😭 Or their grandkids? Tell them scientists say if we don’t cut our fossil fuel usage in half there may not be a livable future.
Q: One thing people do to negatively impact the environment that they don’t realize they’re doing? A. Anything that uses fossil fuels, like driving a gas guzzler.
JANE TRUTH BOMB: The important thing to understand is the [climate change] problem is so vast that individual actions can’t be scaled sufficiently to make a difference. We need new laws, new policies and that requires people and organizations getting together and moving to pressure government to do what’s right. That’s why it’s so important to vote and then after the election, roll up our sleeves and force the government to do what they need to do. 🌎 ❤️
